Inevitability Drive

Fans of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, will be familiar with the power of the Infinite Improbability Drive.

They will also be familiar with the major step up from this: Bistromathics.

But what most people don’t know about is a third revolution in this field of science: The Inevitability Drive.

The inevitability drive is powered by the surprise that sporting fans show when officials inevitably make mistakes. Its improbableness is due to the fact that the power generated is inversely proportional to the quality of the official. That is, with poor officials the energy is massive even though all logic would suggest fans would be less surprised when poor and inexperienced officials make mistakes.

Scientists have calculated that at a typical high school sporting event along, enough energy is created to power an infinite number of Infinite Impossibility Drives. This energy could cure all illness and pay all restaurant bills in the universe simultaneously.

Unfortunately the energy has never been harnessed because prior to the sporting event no one believes that anyone could possibly be surprised by incorrect decisions of inexperienced officials so they pack up their equipment and go to the bar.
